Accepted Answer

Hello; Thank you for writing in today. Pelvic inflammatory disease is usually associated with bacterial infections. Most commonly, gonorrhea and chlamydia are associated with pelvic inflammatory disease. Since this was 29 years ago, this was likely treated and eradicated. This should not be considered a chronic sexually transmitted infection. A history of pelvic inflammatory disease 29 years ago does not pose a risk of transmitting an infection to a partner now. I hope this helps. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please let me know. Lisa
