Already Tried:
Touched the combustion blower, noise stopped. Put washer where screw is missing noise stopped but returned. But still seemed like it needed another washer but have not added another. Looking for a screw to work along with washer.

Is this a vibration noise, or a bad bearing noise?

If it is from missing screws, you can remove a screw that you have and bring it in to home depot to match it.

My apologies, I had an appointment that I had to go to.

The noise is loud and stops when the black cylinder of the combustion blower is just touched. Does not sound like a bearing. Fan continues to run when noise stops. The noise stopped for quite a while when we put a washer where the screw was missing. It lifted the black cylinder slightly but then the noise came back after a while.

Thank you for the suggestion of finding the screw at home depot.

I would like for you to try to find the screw that is needed, and replace the screws.

Please tell me if this works.

Should we leave the washer in place also?

If screws do not correct the problem, does the whole combustion blower housing have to be removed to replace the fan and or bearing?

Answer

If the bearing of the motor was faulty, it would require a new motor. The part in question comes in three pieces.
  1. motor
  2. fan
  3. housing
If the screws do not correct the problem I would like for you to reply here so that we can figure out what to do next.
