Question

Had a power surge and blew the Control module on our 2007 PDW9280N00ss, we have ordered the part # Wd21x10370, and replaced it. The fingertouch control on the exterior of the DW is displaying some lights, but will not allow me to select the type of cycle or enhancements. Is there a certain order yhe new control module needs to be installed??

Answer

No there is no special order to install the board. Recheck the ribbon connector from the touch control to lthe board. Take it out and put it back in again and make sure it is fully seated in the connector.

How do I remove the touch pad in the top of the door?? or do I have to order the whole door?? The ribbon seems to be permanently attached.

Answer

It is a separate part - you do not have to order the entire door. There will be instructions with the new part . It is "stuck" on from the underside.

So... we have purchased and installed this part, with the same results. Any other suggestions??? The lights on the touch pad are not corresponding with what the keys did prior to the power surge. Is there a sequence that should be followed when we initially put power to the Control module ??

OK Stephanie,

On the old board do you see a connector on the board? It may have a wire or two that leave lthe connector but come right back to the connector ( the wires don't leave the board but come back to the board ) IF the old board doesn't have this then tell me specifically what the display is doing - let's say for NORMAL wash and no heat, no sanitize, no delay start - just plain NORMAL wash.

Answer

Somehow you have the ribbon connector in wrong . Everythings off by one connection.

There is only one connector for the ribbon to go into. There is only one connector on the module that each female connector can go to. All the male connector on the module are different sizes. Therefore it appears that there is only one spot for each connection. Could it be that the Control module is the wrong one??

Answer

OK on your control board ( it is the right part number ) try reconnecting the J8 connector and try it . If it still doesn't work disconnect all the connectors but leave J1 - the incoming power leave the ribbon connector on and J8 - the display Disconnect the rest and see if now it will display correctly.

OK!! I have J1 (3 prong) POWER, J2 OR J12 (11 Prong), J3 (4 prong), J4 (3 prong),

J5 (2 prong), J10 (3 PRONG) WITH NO DISHWASHER CONNECTION. J7 is that the ribbon? I ALSO SEE J8, J9, J11 IN THE SAME SPOT, I THINK IT IS J11 (10 PRONG), BUT EITHER WAY THERE IS NO FEMALE CONNECTION WIRES FROM DISHWASHER FOR THAT CONNECTER ON MODULE. I HAVE NO J8 FEMALE CONNECTION FROM DISHWASER.

Leave J1 connected ( power in , black and white wire )

J7 - which is the key pad ribbon - leave connected

J8 - which is a 10 pin connector that goes to the display - leave that connected

Whatever is left - disconnect

Does the control work OK now?

J8 connecter, is that under the ribbon, because if it is I DO NOT HAVE A WIRE TO CONNECT IT!!! But there is a 11 pin connector on the module, and I have a 11 pin connector that fits it, but it only has 10 wires. IS THIS WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!

You said J8 which is a 10 pin connector goes to a display, I DON'T HAVE A DISPLAY, I ONLY HAVE THE RIBBON THAT CONNECTS TO KEY PAD, WHAT YOU MEAN BY DISPLAY

ARE WE TALKING ABOUT THE SAME DISHWASHER AND MODULE???

Answer

Sorry,

The schematic is for 6 different models and the J8 connector says - not on all models- but it doesn't list which models - so you don't have it . Just disconnect everything except the key pad and the incoming power which should be J7 and J1

Ok done that, cookware selection and heated dry light is on. But no response from controls at all or dishwasher.

Answer

Your problem is either a bad control board ( which is new)

A bad touch pad ( which is new)

Not wired correctly . I think we have pretty much ruled this out.

At this point I think there is something wrong with the new control board. Return it for another one. Hopefully your hands aren't getting too chapped from washing dishes and you can get this dishwasher back working.
