Our Microwave GE Spacemaker XL1800 display is reading P9 and none of the touchpanel buttons are responding. Any suggestions

Already Tried:
Unplugged, re plugged in, tried all touch buttons on panel; no response. continues to beep occassionally and then displays message: P9. So we've unplugged it again for now. Did have a major storm yesterday with power outages.

Unplugged, replugged it in and tried the Clear/Stop button on the touch pad. No response. It doesn't respond to any buttons on the touch pad. Only displays "Press Clock" then beeps after a short time and displays "F9".

The F9 error indicates a failure of the inverter module.

The standard thing to try is to unplug the microwave for a minute and then try it again.

Most likely the inverter module has failed and this is something a technician would need to check and repair.

Microwaves are not good do-it-yourself projects. Microwaves are inherently dangerous to service. Internal capacitors can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is unplugged. A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed on the unit following any repair.

I recommend calling a service technician to repair this type of problem.
