i am am green card holder since 2002 but i was frequent traveling overseas for business. my question is how can i qualify to apply for Amerccan Citizenship if i have not fulfilled the requirement of residing in America for at least 3 years of my last 5 years as resident.

Thanks for your question.If you were residing in U.s. here even though traveling out of country on business you should make it residency wise.Your permanent home during this time was in U.S. .The fact you were traveling for work does not mean the U.S. wasn't your residency.If you paid U.S. taxes and kept a residence here in US for instance you would be considered U.S. resident here

you did not answer my question, i know i am a US resident. but how can i apply for US citizensip if i did not actual reside in America more than 3 years for the last 5 years as green card holder.

If you had a resindence here during this time you would qualify.I.E. a house or apartment.The fact that you were away here and traveling would not matter.But if you did not have a residence and they find this out you cannot get around.You can keep green card but not become citizen.The idea here was that you kept some kind of residence here while you were traveling.
Here are the requirements.They are fixed and set by U.S. government.No way around here..
