Question

For the past 2 years I have been working as an outside sales rep for a beverage company in the Cincinnati Ohio area. I am a salary that pays $500 per week and have my fuel expenses (approx. $100 per week) paid for by my company via a company gas card. This is a family owned business and I am the only female sales rep for this company I am pushed extremely hard and have never once questioned anything they have ever asked me to do. When questioned by other sales reps on why he was so hard on me he stated "Because I Can". On October 6, 2009 my boss and I had a disagreement over a customer, when I asked why he was being unfair to me about this issue he began screaming at me telling me to never question him again he makes the rules and hung up. On October 12, 2009 I was informed by my boss that as of Nov 1, 2009 I am being changed from salary to comission resulting in a $250 wk pay cut and am being given $75 a month for gas- roughly a $325 mo. loss. Can he do this? Help!

Answer

Thanks for your question. You should file EEOC complaint here claiming disparate treatment and discrimination here. You should also consider employment lawyer because it appears to me they are trying to discriminate and run you out here. I fear for your long term future. While they can change your rate of pay it appears to me again they are dsicriminatling against you personally because of gender and disparate treatment.
