Hello,
The first thing to do if you have not already done so is please check for fuel pressure and spark, check by removing a spark plug and insert back into the plug wire and try starting the spark at the plug should be strong and blue, now if spark is good then spray some starting fluid into the engine and see if she fires if it trys to start then lets go ahead and get a fuel pressure reading actually either way I would like for you to get a fuel pressure relay. Also remove gas cap and put your ear over it then have someone turn the key/ignition on but do not try to start, can you hear the fuel pump run for a few secs?
Thanks,
Joe
OK, spark is good, I can hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds when the ignition is turned on. Starting fluid fired it up for a few seconds.SO how do I get a fuel pressure reading? Where is the fuel pressure relay? I called the local auto parts store, they cannot find a listing for this relay. If I could find it, I have a '91 tracker that I could rob to test it.
Thanks
Bob
Since the pump is running lets not worry about the fuel pump relay at this time,
Your fuel pressure should be at 34.1 to 39.8 psi with key on and engine off, now turn the key off and pressure should remain at, at least 21.3 for at least 1 min.
You will need a fuel pressure tester or have a shop check it with one for you. You attach the fuel pressure tester to the fuel line either via a service port on the fuel rail or inline on the pressure line.

I was hoping I would'nt have to take it to a shop - they always start from scratch and
re-do everything I have done - costs plenty. I mentioned a relay under the dash was cilcking rapidly with the key on. Also I can hear a rapid click from the throttle body.
This is not normal, and I don't know the cause - it must be related to the no start problem. I put in a new relay and it clicks the same as the old one. Can you point to a test on something related that I can do? Could a low fuel pressure cause the clicking?
