Answer

Hi So when you say you swapped the rocker start switch you mean the solenoid on the governor that would be the fuel solenoid. Did you check for power at the solenoid when the key is on? Does the relay in the box on the box click you may not hear it but you should be able to feel it. there should be a wiring diagram in the box on the back of engine. You should be able to check what the one engine does to compare it to the other.I would take the small wire off of the stater so you can hear the clicks when you try to start each one.

Starboard engine will turn no start. Port turns starts in an instant. testing parts from side to side.

I swapped rocker start switch from helm. port to starboard. no engagement or clicks for fuel solenoid. engine does turn.

swapped the relay also from the port engine. No engagement or clicks while turning.

Found push plug connectors for engine, worked them for connection, no luck. The switch(in the box) with the big wires, goes to starter, right?

Not certain about stater(location).

shift nuetral switch would cut power entirely, correct?

Answer

Hi Yes the switch in the box with the big wires is the starter circuit. Yes if it was a problem in the neutral switch the engine would not crank over at all it only stops the starter from turning. The relay you switched is a square one in the box? Is there breaker switches that are part of the boat? Make sure it is on.Then you need to check for power at the solenoid FIRST if the power and the ground are good at the solenoid then you need to replace it.If no power you must go back and start checking the wiring.the plug you found are a weak point in the system unplug it and see if any green corrosion in it then that is probly the problem. Then check for power at the square relay in the box.Question does the alarm buzzer sound when the switch is turned on?

No alarm @ start switch in on position. I will check relay(black square box), breakers, soleniod and engine electrical plugs again. Get back to you. Thanks

Answer

Hi Does the buzzer sound on other engine? If so could be bad breaker

alarm sounds on port engine, and runs well. Hence the reason for swapping parts from one to another. rocker ignition switch, relay, and being able to compare characteristics from one engine starting and the other not. In reference to clicks buzzes and engagements.

Gauges: fuel, oil, tach, temp all activate when the rocker is turned on.

Answer

Hi Kipper did you check for power at the solenoid? And if you didn't have power there back track to the box, plug, rocker switch and in between until you found power? And if you found power at the solenoid solenoid would be the problem.

diesel boat doc,

had a mechanic to the boat and once we discovered the true "route" of power from engine upto helm controls then back down through a faulty "Sea fire" module. We were able to ascertain that the "Sea fire" module was bas for that engine. We then jumped the bad circuit and she fired right up. gauges, solenoid and the rest are fine. Now the seach for "Seafire replacement.

Answer

Hi again I'm glad that the problem is not with the engine. I not familiar with Sea fire so I can't help you with that. I hope that my answers helped with your problem.

Accepted Answer

Hi again I'm glad that the problem is not with the engine. seafire looks like a big company and it looks like parts are available. when I had problems with fire systems I got a fire extinguisher/System company to work on it that was a dealer for the system. I hope that my answers helped with your problem.Diesel Boat Doc40129.9258207523
