Question

How do I let go of my internal anger and hate toward an upper manager (manager of my ex-manager) who took me out of my dream position, I had worked years for by learning skills to assist me with that job through out my 25 years with the organization, to give it to her crony with a pomotion, who only has seven years with the organization? Hard work, experience and knowedge means nothing to the work place anymore these days! People come into the work area and want higer pay before putting in their time to earn the higher scale! I have to BATTLES to fight at work: (1) my daily depression which entails the innner demons that attack my confidenece and self-esteem (2) a new position where I must re-learn and do catch-up as a result of traveling the road to the dream job I lost. I have five years left to retire if I can afford to when that time finally arrive, but I can never get pomoted to the next scale because my heart and passion is not with this postion, as it was with the other one

I am on an antidepressant (have been since 1993) and make regular visits to my psychiatrist to monitor my meds, which I will be on for the rest of my life. As for this problem I am trying to deal with, it is a struggle between my heart (feelings) and logic (brain). I know I am very fortunate to be in the unit I am now working in and also too have a job, but knowing these facts somehow does not negate the injustice of the situation. Whenever I have a bad day in my new position I find that it is when the anger amd hate encompasses me! When I was young I was taught if you work hard you will succeed, well they forgot to teach about the dirty politics within a working environment. So I have been told many of times I am an idealist!!My parents enforced in us to work hard and to do a good job. I am proud to say I am a hard worker and earn my pay many times over! Now I know when I was young why some of the elderly I encountered were cynical and disillusioned with life!

Hi,

Thanks for using JustAnswer!

Life can be so injust at times!

Your upper manager has their reasons for removing you from your dream job and if you have not already I would talk to them about it. I would question why you were removed, what the person who got your job has that you don't, and what you can do to get the job back or a job like it.

Since it seems like you have to stay in the same company since you retire in 5 years, is there another job that would pay as well that you might like as well? If so see if you can get that one.

If all that fails and there is no way out of the job you are in for the next 5 years then find opportunity in what you are doing. Know that there is usually a reason for everything and find that reason. Continue to be the best you can be and be a hard worker. Keep your integrity and hard work and continue to better yourself. If you are not already with a good therapist find one to help you work through this tough transition.

I hope this helps. I am here to provide you with a satisfactory answer. Please let me know if I can assist you anymore.
