Hello,
May God bless you for rescuing her!
What age, breed and weight is she?
Has she not urinated, defecated or either?
Is she eating?
What food?
Thanks,
Terri
Hi, thank you for responding so quickly!
They believe she is about 4 years old. She is 50 pounds and she is definitely a mixed breed. Her coloring and cute face is of a rottweiler but she is pretty small - comes up to my knees and I'm 5'3. Perhaps a rottweiler and a corgi mix (the corgi part is my total guess because of her small size)
No urination or defecation. The last time she did both was Saturday afternoon (2 days ago) which was the last time she allowed me to put the harness on to take her outside. I will visit the pet store today to see if I can find a harness that does not go over the neck. She is very afraid of it.
She did not eat the first 2 days of arriving but now she is eating and drinking water. She also had a bout of diarreah which has since subsided.
We feed her Nature's Logic hard dog food (Chicken) though she was eating Royal Canine dog food at her rescue clinic.
Thank you!!!!!
Dear friend,
I am sorry you are having trouble with a dog your were sso kind to rescue! May god bless you!
I understand her fear but I am concerned she is dehyrated, hence the lack of elimination.
Yes, try a light neck slip on leash. She may be afraid of the harness due to a prior bad experience or it may hurt her.
Here is how to leash her up.
Show her the leash or collar. Put it onthe floor and let her sniff it. Then press a clicker and give a treat. Next hold it up - click and give treat when she looks. When she realizes the clicker means a treat she will associate the collar with something pleasant.
Push fluids to ge her hydrated so she feels like she needs to go.
