Question

I noticed that the headliner of my truck was wet after it rained. It starts behind the left side of the sun visor; traveling towards the drivers window. Do you have any suggestions ? I do not park under a covered garage, so I do not know how long this has been happening although I have had this vehicle for almost 2 months.

Answer

Has the windshield been replaced in this car, most likely water is seeping in from the windshield area where it is glued against the body. These trucks did not come with sunroofs but if someine has installed one that could also be tour problem.

There is no sunroof and if the windshield was replaced previously, I have no way of finding out as I bought this vehicle used from a private party. (nothing showed up in the carfax report either) I did a quick visual along the rubber seal against the drivers'

door; it looked secure but I am not a mechanic. What do you suggest I do--take it to an auto body shop or an auto glass shop ?? Is it expensive to repair ?? Could it be just a worn out seal where it is glued to the body ??

Accepted Answer

The seal is more cosmetic, it just covers the area between the body and the glass so you can't see it, the glue actually seals out the water. If you van look behind the seal and see if you can see a small gap in the glue behind the seal. If you can let the headliner dry you can sit in the car while someone sprays water on the car so you can better pinpoint the leak. If it is the windshield, a glass shop would be the best place for a repair.
