Question

I have a Four Winns powerboat with a 3Ltr Volvo Penta (petrol) inboard engine which is stored on its trailer. I want to use the boat during the winter hence need to avoid 'winterising'. How do I avoid freezing damage? Any ideas?

Hello Chris,You can easily drain the block and manifold of any water,on the engine block there is a drain plug,it will be on the starboard side under the exhaust manifold, pull the drain plug out and let it drain, then, there is a power steering cooler, you can pull the hose off off it and let it drain, you canthen take the drain plug out of the manifold,it should be towards the back of the manifold on the bottom then go to the riser, the riser should have a hose going to the exhaust tube, that will drain the riser,if there is no hose, look for a drain plug, and remove.Final step, pull the lower hose off the sea-water pump, mounted to the lower pulley on the front of the engine, make sure your outdrive is trimed in and that should get all of the water out of the engine,it should only take about 30-45 minutes to complete this.Hope this helps, let me know if I can help any.
