Question

I have a ragdoll cat and he is just over 1 year old. He has had very sensitive stomach, diarrhea issues on and off since we got him. Has been tested for parasites, and we changed his food but still has bouts of pudding like poop. I just ordered Eagle Pack enzyme to put in his food, do you know anything about this?

Nutro Natural Choice, he gets about 1/3 a can in the morning and dry Eukanuba at night, he weighs about 14 lbs

Hi...

Thanks for the additional information. Probiotics and digestive enzymes are always helpful. But the first ingredient in the Eagle Pack product is rice, and grain is a common allergen in cats. It could be the grains in his Eukanuba dry food that are causing his stomach upset.

There are many probiotics for animals that contain no grains, including FortiFlora, which you could probably buy from your vet.

I would try to get him off the dry food, too. If you gave him 1/2 can of Natural Choice in the morning and the other half at night, that could prevent the diarrhea. Check the ingredients in his wet food, too. It seems to me some Natural Choice flavors contain rice. Your goal should be to get him on a totally grain-free diet.

If he really needs his crunchies, try a brand of dry food that contains no grains. A few possibilities are Evo, Wellness CORE, and Before Grain. Independent pet supply retainers (not PetCo or PetSmart) sell all three.

I hope this helps. If you'd like to talk more, please feel free to write back to me.

Thanks so much, I did read about other ragdoll owners who took their cats off of grains too.
