I am on Cymbalta 30 mg and I am on Clonazepam 2 mg and I am on Seroquel 50 mg at night. I am in the process of going throught a IVF cycle to get pregnant and I wanted to know if it was safe for me to continue on these drugs during my pregnancy. Can you give me some sound advise regarding these medicines whether I can continie to take them during my preganancy to treat my Bi Polar Disorder?

Answer

Hi,
Among the medications you take, Clonazepam is pregnancy category D, which means there is positive evidence of fetal risk if the medication is taken during pregnancy. So it should only be taken if there is no other alternative.

The remaining three medications are pregnancy category C medications, which means there is some evidence of fetal risk in animal studies, but no evidence of human fetal risk or no conclusive human studies are available. Category C drugs should also generally be avoided, but can be taken if benefits outweigh the risks. Your doctor may allow you to continue taking any one or all of these medications considering your symptoms and medical history. So you should discuss this carefully with your doctor.
Regards.

As I mentioned earlier I get extremely physically sick when I come off of these medications and they are the only thing that allow me to function. Are there any cases that you are aware of with women who have been on similar medications that when on to have healthy babies. The Clonazepam I can stop if necessary its only 2mg but the other drugs I need in order to function on a daily basis. I will wait for your reply thank you.
