Question

I have a 2001 Infiniti I30 service engine soon light was on code was P0740 TCC CKT malfunction transmission control solenoid. Purchased new solenoid replaced it. Now how do I get the service engine soon light to go off so I can smog vehicle. No other codes are on.

Answer

You can go to your local parts store to have them use a scantool to reset the light for free. If the light comes back on you either have a wiring problem or your transmission control module has failed. Let me know if you have more questions, thanks.

I replaced the whole transmission control module part # RE4F04A/4F20E unless they sent me a faulty part it should be fine. Are there any other tricks to get the lught off, I've heard disconnect battery for 24 hours is this true?

If you replaced the transmission control module and the solenoid that means the only other possible problem could be wiring. The light should go off by itself after X XXXXXXXX XXXXX cycles which can be a little tricky or should go off if you disconnect the battery for 15 minutes. But disconnecting the battery can lead to other problems thats why I only suggest having it shut off with a scantool which they will do for free at your local parts store or quick lube for free.
