Question

I was recenrtly diagnosed with a UTI 10 days ago. I took the antibiotics for the full 10 days. It seems my UTI is still there. It feels like i have to urniate every 20minutes. When i do urinate it is only a illte Dribble. Im a diabetic and recently found out i had protein (trace amounts) leaking intio my kidneys. Im wondering if there is an underlying cause to my UTI or if it is something different? I have been to like 3 doctors and nothing has worked so Far. My Urine is also very cloudy

Hi, thank you for contacting Just Answer...Yes, your symptoms indicate that you have not gotten rid of your UTI. You reallly should have a culture of your urine done to be sure they are giving you an antibiotic that is sensative to your bacteria or yeast infection.

It is not unusual that you did not respond with the first dose of antibiotics as infections are always more difficult to treat when you have diabetes. You need to drink 2 liters of fluid a day and keep your blood sugar in a normal range. The fact that up have protein in your urine indicates that you may have some kidney issues. They need to do kidney studies, a urine culture and you should drink cranberry juse dailyt to maintain a acid balance in your urine.

thanks for your help... i eliminated all caffeine out of my daily diet. I have basically been only drinking Water and Cranberry Juice. So basically the antibiotics i have been taking have not been working?

Accepted Answer

Hi again, Very frequatly persons having urinary tract symptoms are treated with a broad spectrum antibiotic which covers most types of bacgteria. In some cases as yours there may be some resistance built up of the bacteria is not sensative to that particular bacteria. So yes the antibiotic you took did not get rid if the infection.
