employer wants me to sign the following statment: Silgan Plastics may elect to discontinue my employment, with or without cause, and with or without notice, for any reason not prohibited by law
State/Country relating to Question: Georgia Already Tried: I resisted signing the doc so far, but am getting more pressure daily. Can they Fire me?
If you were given an employee handbook which states how and why you can be fired, or if you have an employment contract, then you may only bee terminated in accordance with those douments, which are legally binding. Otherwise, you are considered an "at will" employee and may be terminated at any time, and in that case it does not do any harm to sign the letter.
