Question

I am in the process of adding a room to the back of my house. I have central AC through out the house and the room next to the new addition has duct work running to it. Can I branch off the duct work in the room next to the new room to provide AC in the new addition or do I have to install a new line directly from where all lines connect to the main unit? I know my 3 ton unit is large enough to handle the new room! Thank-you, Alan

As long as your confident the AC unit is able to provide adequate air flow to move the conditioned air you certainly may "branch off" to your addition. Bear in mind that the more turns (particularly 90 degree ones) will have impact on the volume of air flow allowed to be "pushed" by the fan.
