Question

FELINE MYOSISTITIS. OUR OLDER CAT HAS IT, BUT THE VETS ARE AT A LOSS EXCEPT FOR GIVING IT AN ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND FEEDING IT THROUGH A TUBE IN STOMACH. TETANUS AND CANCER HAVE BEEN RULED OUT. SHE ATTEMPTS TO EAT BY SLIDING HER TONGUE OUT OF THE RIGHT SIDE OF HER MOUTH - WITH MODICUM SUCCESS. SHE ALSO SEEMS DISORIENTED AND WALKS IN CIRCLES WHEN SHE IS NOT SLEEPING. DO YOU HAVE ANY INSIGHT/ADVICE? SHE IS NOW HOME AND WE ARE FEEDING HER THROUGH THE TUBE ALONG WITH ANIT-BIOTICS. THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN OFFER.

Answer

Sounds like as a part of the problem she is also dealing with vestibular disease which you can read about here

http://www.cathealth.com/vestibular.htm

For that and the myositis steroids may help reduce symptoms.

You might try pureeing her food so she can lap it up.

Scroll down on this page

http://www.familyvet.com/Cats/Muscle.html

to POLYMYOSITIS topic to see info on treatment and then to info on INFECTIOUS MYOSITIS below it.

Toxoplasmosis is a disease that can trigger this condition but its not a common side effect. You can read about Toxoplasmosis here

http://www.fabcats.org/owners/toxoplasmosis/info.html

Hope this helps you!

Answer

It is impossible for us to know what you do and do not know without you telling us.

We can only answer what you ask and you asked for "ANY HELP YOU CAN OFFER. "

And I supplied you with information on her dizziness, the disease, a way to get more food into her and possible triggers for the problem.
