Question

In by April I was refused delivery to my hotel in Louisiana by a Pizza Hut employee based upon my race. When I called and asked if they delivered to the address of the hotel, the black person who answered replied: "Not for YOU, Honky!" Yum Brands offered me a pizza as a settlement. Had the tables been turned, and I called the person the "N" word, he'd own my home now. No doubt about it. Yet, Yum Brands sees it fit to offer me a PIZZA? I've contacted the NAACP, who referred to my case as "reverse discrimination." Which I interpreted as, discrimination only happens to minorities. I've written a letter to the ACLU, but it seems their interests are only those involving the government. Where do I turn? I'm a profoundly deaf person living on social security and do not have the means to secure a private attorney. Can you advise, or direct me to where I can turn to get just compensation for this blatant act of racial discrimination against me?

The Florida Attorney General's Office wanted nothing whatsoever to do with this. They felt it was a "joke" and I should have accepted the pizza.

Accepted Answer

You can still file a complaint on the complaint form and it must be investigated. You are entitled to an answer. Since it happened in Louisiana, you can also file a complaint in that state. It is done through the Governor's office. Below is the link for filing a complaint: http://www.gov.state.la.us/HumanRights/filingacomplaintofdiscrim.htm You are entitled to an answer regarding your situation. It is not right that you were treated that way. You should also write a letter outlining your complaint to Yum Brands. Sometimes, a phone call may be answered by a low level employee. You need to write the letter to the CEO of the company and to the Marketing Director. Below please find a link to Yum Brands. You can navigate the site to determine with whom you wish to file the complaint. What happened was not only WRONG, but it was bad business! http://www.linkedin.com/companies/yum-brands I hope you find this information useful and that you PRESS THE GREEN ACCEPT BUTTON so that I can receive credit for answering the question. Thank you. Legal Disclaimer: This is for informational purposes only, and does not constitute legal advice. No attorney/client privilege has been created.
