I have heard that HPV can lie dormant in men for many years. But just how long is many? is it possible for it to lie dormant for 15yrs or more?

Dear beer24, Hello.HPV virus in males may be asymptomatic.The incubation period is highly variable from a few weeks to more than a year.Since symptoms may be absent or mild,it may be another few months till it is noticed.It may lie dormant in the skin till it is triggered by stress/other diseases/hormonal changes.It will be difficult to comment if dormancy can last upto 15 years but theorotically that is a possibility.Since very few males are tested the available data is meagre and very little work is available.
