Question

For 20+ years I have dealt with reoccuring cysts on both breats. Two years ago I had to have my lymphnodes removed from my left armpit and was supposed to make an appointment to have them removed from my right armpit but never did. For the past 3 weeks I have had a lump on my right breast close to my nipple, approx. 1 inch from my nipple on the right side of it. The lump isn't painful like a cyst, there is no pain at all. It is hot to the touch and there is a red circle around it, about the size of 3 inches in circumference. Five days ago the lump started bleeding and bled for 2 days. And still there was no pain. After the bleeding stopped I thought nothing more of it other than being an annoyance. Just a few minutes ago the bleeding started back up, again there is no pain, the lump is about the size of a shooter marble, and the redness is still there. Now I am worried. Advice please?

keeping the area clean, heat compressions just in case it was a cyst that always works to progress it to popping, and i've put neosporin on it just in case it's an infection

Hello XXXXXXXX,

I really don't want to alarm you, however, the fact that this lump has no pain is not a good sign. It's probably nothing but an infection in your breast, but it is possible for breast cancer to present this way. You need to see your doctor fairly soon for an exam, and some testing.

Ok thank you Valarie, breast cancer is a huge fear of mine since I'm always getting lumps. Which that (the lumps) in itself is always scary until they turn liquidy as cysts do. This lump however is solid. I will be making an appointment first thing tomorrow. Again thank you for your help.
