Santonu Have you come up with an answer for me???

Posted by Santonu 47 days and 12 hours ago.

Answer

If the hidden recovery partition is still intact, it will be possible to use the HP Recovery Manager on the hard drive to restore the computer to its original operating condition.

For that,

Turn on the system,

Repeatedly tap F11 key to start the HP Recovery Manager.

If it starts recovery manager, you can use it to restore the system.

Otherwise, there are couple of steps that we can try to find the exact problem which is preventing internet access.

Answer

Use your working computer to download the following:

1 Intel PRO/Wireless Drivers

2 HP Wireless Assistant

Once downloaded, move it to the affected computer using a flash drive or CD and install it there.

Restart the computer, test the issue and let me know

I wonder if this is going to work.we have spent a great deal of time and so far not been able to acomplish our goals. I appreciate what you are attempting to do but as I have said some of the software that was deleted I believe is the problem. Can we find out waht has been deleted and get it back into the compiuter For example I use Trend Micro to protect this and the other computers it is still on the desktop but when I click on it it does not come up. Sewveral other programs also do not come up as they did before this became a problem when things were deleted

Info Request

First we tried to disable the startup items to make sure that no other program is blocking internet access. But it did not helped.

The other reasons, which can prevent the system from accessing Internet are the wireless lan driver and HP wireless assistant.

Another option will be to try a system restore to get back to a previous date, when the system used to work.

The following link will describe the procedure

If it fails, I will opt out to let other experts provide a solution.

Info Request

Try to use system restore on your laptop once.

If it fails to resolve the problem, then you will need to use factory restore after taking a bckup of your important data.

The problem you are facing is due to corrupt/ missing system files. There is an option to repair the corrupted/ missing system files if you have the installation disc for Vista. But since the system did not came with any disc, the best option will be to use factory restore.

The following link will describe the procedure in detail

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00809678&tmp_task=solveCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3689909

Santonu;

I have just found 3 Vist recovery disks. Which I had downloaded at one time or another. Should I use them and can they recover the missing files??

Posted by Santonu 47 days and 9 hours ago.

Info Request

To repair only the corrupted system files, you will need a Windows Vista installation disc.

The discs you have is recovery discs. With these, you can restore the system to a previous date/time (when the discs were made).

Myt wqife has avista computer I will chack to see if she has a vista Installation disk. If she does what do I need to do to get the missing files back on the laptop.

Posted by Santonu 47 days and 9 hours ago.

Answer

If you get a Vista disc, you need to use the following steps:

Click the Windows button>> All Programs>> Accessories.

Right click the Command Prompt option and then select "Run as administrator" from the menu.

In Command Prompt window, type sfc /scannow , press Enter

You will now receive a message that states the scan will now begin. If SFC should find any rogue files that need to be replaced, you may be asked to insert your Windows Vista disc.

Restart the computer

Reply

Santonu. You have been great I hope this will work.

If I insert the windows disk will the computer then tell me the proceedures from that point on. If I need to reach you again can I do that or is there a Code number to reach someone else if I have further problems.

Posted by Santonu 47 days and 9 hours ago.

Info Request

When you insert the Windows Vista disc, it will start the Windows Vista setup. You need to cancel the setup and use the procedure I mentioned.

But let me be very honest with you. If the above fails, you will need to either use the recovery discs or inbuilt factory restore to restore the system.
