i have occasional banging noise on therear drivers side it doesnt seem to be anythig to do with the engine part more like a slaping sound any ideas

the noise comes and goes it does it when setting of it sounds like something slapping near the drivers side rear door i have checked under neath the vehicle and cant seem to find anythig loose or any seals or rubbers worn any ideas seems to do it when changing gear b ut not all the time tnanks for any help

Accepted Answer

Sounds like a loose strut, or shock bolt. Could be exhaust shield, or broken exhaust strap hanger. Also check door gaskets, make sure it is in tact not slit cut obstructed by anything. Sometimes rare but there also could be something like an accorn rolling arouind inside the rocker panels. Because your discription of sound and or noise is unclear and refered to as slapping and banging, I feel it's best to give you most of the options that match your discription.
