I am sorry to hear of your difficulties. Hearing loss is something that people often do not appreciate in company, and you will need to consider whether you would benefit from counseling in order to help come to terms with your difficulty.
It is also important to realize that hearing loss does not have to mean that you are excluded from social or employment opportunities but you need to develop some skills and techniques to cope with the additional challenges that you face. The first step is to join a local support group for people with hearing impairment. They will have lots of experience in exactly the circumstances that you find yourself. Learning to read sign language may help open up communication in areas when spoken word is difficult. Also there are more electronic aids available for converting sound to visual text.

Having your children learn sign language at the same time as you do will provide a family opportunity to work together to help with your new challenges.
