Question

2004 Chevy Malibu: when we fill the tank full of gas, the gauge reads empty; had the fuel pump replace with the same results.

Does the gauge move at all? or is it always on emprty?

It will go to full for a few miles then go back to empty.

Before and then after we replaced with another fuel pump.

Ok , this car , the float and the fuel pump are together. There could be broken or bad ground wire on the connection by the tank. I have found this problem before on this model. Check the ground for this tank it should be the black wire. I have even found the new fuel pumps to have a faulty float on them.
