Answer

Hi! There This is what everyone would like to do. But if you live in a emmision state it will fail the test and the check. The car should run fine, there is a possiblity of the exhaust going pass the O2 sensor to fast depending on the muffler you are going to use. This my cause some drivablity problems. It will set a check engine light. Lee

Answer

NO! the car will loadup. You need a o2 sensor to regulate the fuel ratio.

OH! better not do that then....another question....if i put just the sensor back on, will the car loose mpgs or power? or will the computer just recalibrate n work itself out?

Answer

The Better the system breaths the more power as long as you can keep the fuel right. But the exhaust can not travel past the o2 to fast to work properly. If the o2 does not read correctly the ECM can not control the fuel ratio correctly. causing poor fuel milage and power. by doing this you will need a muffler that will slow the flow enough for correct o2 reading. The older cars was better suited to do what you want. The newer ones are not the best for doing this. You would be better off with a preformace program in the ECM. Lee

would two super 44 flowmaster mufflers slow the flow enough?

Accepted Answer

It is poss. I do not know how they are made inside. But I think two mufflers should do it. One muffler with the right design will do it. About 1/2 lb. back pressure at 3000 rpm's should be about right. As o2 get old they respond slower. I would start with a new o2 for best results. Lee
