The boarding of your driveway will not only add dimension to your homes exterior appearance, but it will also be functional.
Although I doubt that you will be driving off of your driveway, there is still a small factor of erosion along the edges of an asphalt drive without a sturdy border. The lack of a sturdy boarder allows grasses and weeds to eat away at the edges also. Although it requires a fair amount of time for nature to retake the driveway, with a concrete or block boarder that time is increased ten fold.
Another consideration is the ease of cleaning the driveway. With a boarder you dont have as much mud and other debris washing, or blowing onto it.
There are other benefits that a solid boarder provides, most are astetic, and vary with the imagination. From petunia planters, to rain water recovery systems to water you lawn with. Some are ingenious, and others are just a bunch of rocks held together with some concrete mortar and painted with a whitewash.
Does a boarder justify the cash outlay? I think so, yes.
