Question

I have two pugs. I have noticed lately that one of the pugs has a darker brownish coloring of his hair. I do not know if this is an indication of something going wrong with him or not. The other one has the same camel coloring as he did when I got them both.

Yes he has been nutered. He eats purina dog food out of the can. He is in the sun some throughout the day.

Dear jlee,

 

In a three year old dog that is eating well, I do not think this is a serious issue.

 

Most neutered dogs do develope dark pigment in their fur, eventually. So your other boy will most likely darken as well.

 

You can give them a daily vitamin with Omega 3 fatty acids to promote great coat color.

 

They can also have melatonin:
