Question

A week an a half ago I was kicked in the vagina area by my roomate. I went to the Er the next day and they said I had a contusion of the soft tissues. After sex however, the pain is worse and has moved up into my lower abdomen. Could this just be bruising or is this something to worry about.

4, it's a constant pain. It has gotten worse though than it had been I'm guessing due to having sex that could have aggrivated the bruise. I was wondering why it would have taken so long for it to heal though. ( a week and a half) I have also felt a bit light headed and more tired than usual but I don't know if that's attributed to this or not.

Hello,

Healing can take 2-3 weeks and sex can aggravate the problem, as healing is not strong in one and a half week. There can be associated abdominal pain, which of mild grade intensity is not worrying. You should take Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) for a 5 days continuously. That would not only help in pain but also in healing as it decreases the tissue edema due to its anti-inflammatory action. Since you have been examined by your physician, at this point of time, I would not be concerned, by your symptoms. They would abate in all likelihood in next one week.
