Answer

I am biasd, as I work on the Dodges, but i have to say the Dodge is the one to pick. The Cumins diesel is the most powerful, and the most dependable. I have seen trucks in our Dealership with over 250,000 miles, and still going strong. I have only seen 2 engines needing internal repairs, ( other than basic normal repairs), in the 15 years I have worked at Dodge Dealerships. Pick the Dodge!

I HAVE BEE TOLD THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS IN THE OLDER DODGES ARE VERY UNRELIABLE...HOWEVER THE CUMMINS IS PROBABLY THE WAY TO GO. I KNOW THE MANUAL TRANS. ARE MUCH BETTER BUT MY CIRCUMSTANCES REQUIRE ME TO HAE THE AUTO. WOULD YOU STILL RECOMMEND THE DODGE EVEN THOUGH I AM UNABLE TO GET THE FIVE SPEED?

THANKS AGAIN!!

Accepted Answer

the Dodges as a whole have a bad reputation for trannys, but the Diesel's have a huge tranny, that is near bullit proof; I do the trannys at our garage, and the diesel trannys raely break down, as they are built so heavy duty, in order to handle the massive torque of the Cumins.
