Question

I adopted (from PAWS) a 1 year old female cat two weeks ago. It is an indoor cat with no claws in the front from the previous owner. The cat eats (with an open mouth), drinks water, and goes to the litter box okay. It has the following symptoms: • One side of nose is completely filled • Same side eye waters • Opposite eye has dark pink in corner next to nose • Opposite side of nose is partially filled • Sneezes occasionally • Crooked tail that looks it was broken Is there anything that I can give this cat to clear up its nose?

No she isn't a flat face persian ... she is a Russian Black (?).

PAWS gave us a small bag of Science Diet dry cat food. My daughter has the cat with a 12 year old male who is also a Russian Black (?). She gave both cats some Tuna and they both yummed it up. When the Science Diet is almost gone, she will mix it with the special cat food that she gets from Flamingo Pet Clinic (for cats that are allergic to regular food).

Dear friend,

I am sorry the cat you were so kind to adopt has these issues. It is either allergic in nature or a low grade Herpes infection.

Add 100 mg of l-lycine to her daily water.

You can use little nose pediatric nose drops in her stuffed nostril.

Apply a damp teabag to the affected eye a few times a day.

Canned food is much better for her. PLEASE READ:

These brands below, are well-recommended and contain nothing artificial, plus, contain meat as the first, or within the first three ingredients:

Wellness (http://www.oldmotherhubbard.com/

Felidae (http://www.canidae.com/

Innova (http://www.naturapet.com/display.php?d=inn-home

Newman's Own Organics (http://www.newmansownorganics.com/pet/home/

Natural Balance (http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/catformulas/NB_CatCanned.html

She can have an OTC called clortrimeton - a quarter tablet every 12 hours if she is congested. You can also take her in a steamy bathroom where you have run a hot shower to break it up.

Please let me know how she is feeling. If you get worried I will always be here to help further.

I hope she feels better very soon.

May God bless you!

Warmest best wishes,

Terri
