Question
Wood Stove - Pros and cons on venting the chimney straight up vs thru the wall and the up?

Hi XXXXXXXXX
The benefits to running the flue straight up is that you can use single wall pipe until you get to the ceiling. This config throws more heat.
The only benefit to venting through the wall and then up is the lack of a roof penetration (potential for leaks) but if properly installed a roof pentration is not a concern.
The aesthetics are a toss up. Some people don't like the looks of a verticle flue in the room some don't like the looks of a flue running up the outside of the house.
