Question

Hello, I have a one year old staffxridgeback. Recently has been put on steroids for her allergies, a week ago today. She has lost a bit of weight, constantly peeing herself and seems tired and lifeless, I know the urinating is a common side effect. 9pm today she threw up just food remains, and just 15 minutes ago she threw up three large puddles of blood, one of these had a small piece of bone in it. Im aware it's most likely the bone that has caused this throwing up but I thought I should ask as blood is never a good sign. There are no cots, is a bright red and her stool is yellow (as she gets slightly constipated) but with no blood.

Hi XXXXXXXXXXXXX~

Although it's not unusual to see a small amount of blood if a dog has been vomiting for a long time, what you're describing is absolutely NOT normal.

It sounds to me as if she may have a tear in her digestive tract somewhere...possibly from the bone she ate. Whatever the cause, this requires a vet's attention immediately.

If this were my dog, I'd get her to a vet right away. They'll likely want to take an x-ray to see if there's something unusual going on and will probably want to observe her to see if they can figure out where the bleeding is coming from.

I hope she's okay.
