Question

partial off & on total body numbness/cramping going to continous 12 to 18 hours after bowling exercise of 6 to 9 games in one 10 hour period especially worse when trying to sleep without sitting partially up. Have been and am taking &\or eating 1 bannana, plum juice, oatmeal, 800mg motrin, .5mg Xanax for past 10 years, 100mg Lyrica, Omnaris, Astelin for past 2 years per day with appropriate blood work. Have had two conduction studies which showed minor lose in extremities. Skeletal MriS/CTS negative for a 68 year old smoking male. No other physical problems ie. heart, sugar, blood, colestral, lung, etc. Even though more dangerous does Cymbalta work better than Lyrica? I know that I can gradually increase Lyrica to 300mg a day but should I? Thank You Dick Ziehl

Already Tried:
physical therapy, supposedly related to my neck. Other than forcing me to limber up that part of my anatomy if at all it was very short lived. Working up to two miles a day walking but got such bad shin splints in my left leg &/or right that my foot would actually flop from the pain after about 1/2 mile but not knowing any better I would do at least a mile anyway. Have had almost every scan that exists within lthe past fifteen years. All negative for appropriate age when scan was done. I do have an abdominal anuerism that is checked every 6 to 9 months. Past two years has stayed @ 3.2ish. No symptoms, was found by abdominal scan for something else.

Hi,

Lyrica is a good medication with good patient response.

Other than that - the symptoms you are experiencing could be due to vitamin or mineral deficiencies.

You need to take calcium, vitamin D and B complex supplements especially vitamin B 12 .

Exercise is good for you as it improves circulation. Massaging also increases circulation. Wear loose comfortable clothes.

Most importantly - if you are overweight - you would need to loose weight - start an exercise and diet regimen - weight control in itself would help significantly with your symptoms.

Avoid alcohol and smoking. Both of these can incraese your symptoms.
