Question

The prop of my 3 year old Minkota Trolling Motor stopped working. The steering works but the prop will not. It is controlled from the remote pad. I can hear the contact when I engage the pedal but it just clicks at the control box but with no motion of the prop.

Badger-I don't show a power glide, only a Power Drive. Could that be what you have?

Okay, good. You can buy parts by calling-
Eight hundred 263 63 ninty. Can't put the numbers in or the system cancles them.

Next Minn Kota has a three year warrenty so you might still be covered. BEFORE testing too much call the number and see if you are covered.

Now to test? Put a volt meter on the battery and try to spin the prop. If the voltage drops more than about .25 volts then we can say the windings are shorted or the bearings have failed. If you get no volt drop then we can say it's the realy. We know it's not the control cause we hear the realy when you activage the control. So motor or relay board and the way to test.

The number givenfor Minn Kota is incorrect. The problem was resolved by changing the Coil Cord and Board. It appears that, at some point the system had overheated and fused the wiring.
