XXXXXXXXX,
Thank you for the question.
I try to tell patients not to put too much stock in HCG levels. But I will tell you that very early on in healthy pregnancies we see the HCG level double every 48-72 hours. Your levels definitely did that which is a good sign. Your doctor is right Ultrasound is the best way to detect a healthy pregnancy. Pregnancy symptoms are also a really healthy indicator that you are still pregnant, which is also a good sign.
If your doctor did an abdominal ultrasound so early I'm not surprised he didn't see anything. Transvaginal ultrasounds are recommended for such early pregnancies.
So, if your last period was on August 13th you would be about 12 weeks around November 19th. You can certainly try and go in a little sooner, but most providers won't even schedule patients until after the 12 week mark.
As long as you don't have any heavy bleeding, abdominal pain, or fever I wouldn't worry too much as everything at this point seems o.k. You are probably very, very early and the risk of miscarriage is higher in the first trimester, but everything you are saying seems healthy and normal at this point.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Sarah
I am confused because if I count the prgnancy from the 13 of August then ultrasound should show something (I went this Monday) but it didn't! That's why the doctor spoke about a very early pregnancy.
