Question
I have recently been diagnosed with a mild bladder infection. My doctor prescribed Cipro, but I was reading online about this medicine it sounded like there are a lot of side effects. Is there anything else I can take, or is Cipro the best option? I am allergic to Omnicef.

Hello,
There are many different options for treatment of a bladder infection.
Cipro is a good antibiotic and rarely has side effects (especially in the younger population).
But if you are concerned, another option that is very well tolerated (but has to be taken for a full week) is Macrobid 100 mg twice daily.
Bactrim DS is also used but has a higher risk of side effects than the Cipro, so not a good idea for you.
If you really don't want the Cipro, I would try the Macrobid.
