Question

Hiya. Have a 1996 Nissan Maxima. Cannot open trunk. Have key and can hear the trunk release TRY to do it's job. Will not open with one or both. Any suggestions?

No the key does not work to open the trunk. We can manipulate the trunk latch but does not open the trunk either.

Ok, this could get interesting. Ready!


You will have to pull down the rear center arm rest, then reach into the trunk with a flash light. Under the latch there is a lever, that moves up and down. That is the valet switch. Most likely that is what is keeping the trunk release from popping the trunk.
