Question

I have an excel(2003) spreadsheet with the column "A" filled to 7000 with company contact information. Is there anyway I can convert Column "A" into multiple columns "A-K" with each row formatted to one company?

Info Request

Hi,

From what I understand each 11 lines in column A are part of the same address, and you want these 11 lines to be placed in columns A to K, right?

If so I will need to have the file to work on it.

Each company's information is 9 lines and then there is 2 lines that break each company up. Is there a command or anything that can covert each company's information into columns "A-I"? How can I send you the file to reference?

Yes there is a command that converts the cells from rows to columns and it is called transpose, but you will have to apply it for each address block. What is needed in your case is a custom macro that goes through the entire list and transposes each block. But for that to work the number of lines of each address must be the same, or the addresses must be separated by an empty row and there should be no other empty rows within the addresses themselves. Before sending the file I want to know if Is this the case or not. Also could you copy two blocks and paste them here so that I can see how they are listed.

I believe that is case. Each company's contact information is exactly 9 lines and seperated by two more lines in the list. Then a new company's contact information starts.

Thanks.

But it looks like the first block has 9 lines and the second has 8?

Anyway, please go ahead and send me the file: Go to http://www.wikisend.com/, upload the file, wait until you get the download link, copy that link and then come back to this question page and paste it in your reply.

If the file has sensitive information let me know before you upload it.
