Question

Hi. I am a 37 year old male. I wake feeling awful... nauseated, weak (as if I might faint) I have to take my time getting up as to do so fast would make me collapse. My head feels numb and 'fuzzy' and though I recognise the syptoms a feeling of fear/anxiety is very present. These episodes can suddenly come about during the day too. If I nap (I try not to!) I'll awake with the same awful feeling. When the symptoms are not there I feel ok and carry on life as usual...ie work/and family life. Its really getting me down cos so far all the doc says is its anxiety attack. I know this is not the case 'cos of the physiological symptoms, and the nfact that it happens each day. I'd be very grateful for your advice. D

Already Tried:
Getting up very slowly. Not eating 'til after 10am as nausea severe first thing ( plus bowels feel 'blocked' with gurgly sensations and I wait for bowels to open prior to eating) Motilium 10 mgs was advised with minimal success but I do take one in the morning sometimes. I eat a pretty healthy diet, avoid dairy and wheat (also suggested to me might help, but doesn't really).

Hello, what is your blood pressure?

Do you drink alcohol?

Do you take any other medication?

Have you had your blood glucose checked?

Blood pressure today was 110/75 but at the time I felt ok. Yes I drink VERY MODERATely and Not every day. When I do take a few drinks the symptoms are more acute. No I dont take any other meds than the occasional motilium.

Its worth saying that these symptoms are becoming more frequent though no more severe in nature.

Had b/sugar tests before... normal eveidently. Good luck and thanks in advance

I would recommend that you avoid alcohol for the next month and start to keep a symptom diary. Your symptoms do suggest anxiety disorder however they could e linked with a slightly low blood pressure which is common on rising, especially if the patient is dehydrated. Alcohol worsens dehydration so needs to be taken out of the picture for a few weeks.
