yea..it is bleeding. Don't know -I think maybe when he went for his walk or maybe playing in the yard.

Answer

OK, thanks for the reply. For a bleeding wound on the foot, it's very difficult to bandage it at home -- it takes a lot of experience and practice to be able to successfully place secure bandages on the foot of a large dog. For this reason (and the possibility that stitches may be needed), I would suggest calling your veterinarian to get an appointment today, in order to have the wound looked at and treated by a professional. If there's an open wound, it can become infected very quickly, and that can make a much bigger problem out of it.

actually there's no cut - it's just blisters. all red and I guess that is what was bleeding. Do i still have to take him to the vet or is there something I can rub on it? Neosporin?

Accepted Answer

Oh, OK. Blisters are sometimes a sign of a more serious issue, such as Lupus or other immune system problems - so I don't know that I'd feel comfortable recommending waiting on this issue for very long. If you are insistent on treating this at home, then Neosporin is safe to use, but I suspect it will not penetrate deeply enough to fix the problem.
