Info Request

Hello and thank you for using JustAnswer.com

You do know that the supports in your roof are not there if you don't have a roof rack right?

Let me know, Thanks Jay!

I was made aware of it but I am only looking at installing it for looks vs anything to carry. Would installing it with out supports stay on anyway despite wind load etc?

Answer

The supports in the roof is what mounts it. That is why I mentioned it. It's not just a structural issue, but a mounting issue also. I don't like to see customers waste money, but I am afraid it will not work. You may be able to have a body shop do something for you, but then the cost will get much higher. In any case, here is a link that sells Nissan Parts at a whole sale price.

If you have any more questions on this, please feel free to ask. Thanks Jay!

Jay,

I hope this is my last question/s for you.I can see from the print that the only support is the original roof panel itself.? Which will require that the interior headliner be removed and holes drilled thru the roof for the roof rack supports.? Agreed.? I thought that there was some sort of interior plate for all four supports that need to be attached but I don't see that. Please confirm. Please direct me to a site where I may purchase the roof rack new or used(wrecker yard)Thanks

John

p.s. Thanks for your all your help.

Hey John,

You may be some what correct. I do know that the head liner would need to be dropped. It would recommend a body shop do the install in case there is any fabrication needed to mount the rack, plus they would give you a warranty on there work. I know there is some structural differences, but if you take it to a body shop, they should be able to make it work for you. Drill holes and thread them and reinforce the area for support. Here is a link that sells Nissan Parts at a whole sale price. You should be able to get the roof rack there. If you have any questions on it, you can always call them.
