Question

Do you know about any of the infamous electrical problems the Olds Intrigue has had? some people have had On/off headlights, some people have cruise, heat & AC problems. My Sons car has just started both. Some say(forums) An alternator helped the light problem, some say no.I have a new battery and the Alt says 14.5 volts with load. someone said the electric air pump is creating the problem with the lights, because it seems to happen in the first five minutes of driving.you can hear the electronic circuit breaker clicking on / off. The cruise/heat/AC problems had people writing that they had replaced all different things with no help. But one person said the dealer found the ignition switch was not passing enough voltage, It was replaced and the person had no more cruise/heat /AC problems. So again I ask are, you familiar with this and can you help me out? Thanks -Brett

Accepted Answer

yes i am very familiar with this,i have seen this often and so far everytime it has beed the ignition switch,

Customer Concern:Headlights blink, cruise control does not work.
Tests/Procedures:1. Check the cruise control system powers and grounds.

2. Start the engine, check for battery voltage at the CRUISE and RADIO/CRUISE fuses. If the voltage is low, check for low voltages at the ignition switch.

3. The inputs to the ignition switch are Red, check voltage outputs with the engine running on the Pink, Brown, Dark Green and Orange wires.

4. Check ground G201. This circuit grounds multiple components including the Cruise Control Module, the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and Headlight switch.

5. G201 is under the dash, to the left of the steering column.
Potential Causes:Connection
Ground
Power
Wiring
