Question

Is it possible to replace the rear shocks on my 2000 Saab convertible without cutting the trunk carpet? If so, please explain how. The carpet is like new and I am reluctant to cut it per the installation instructions.

Answer

Hi , you can avoid cutting carpet but you will have to pull carpet complete back. This how I do it . It does take a little more work. I hope this helps

Thanks

Can you be more specific as to how to pull it back? Do any fasteners have to be removed? Do you pull it up from the front or the back? Any other advice?

Accepted Answer

Yes, there will be black round fastners that hold the carpet in around the trunk ,fender and wheel well . I believe there is about 6 or 7 depending if the car has never been worked on before or broken etc. I wish I could send you a diagram but saabs solution is to cut the carpet. When you pull the carpet back it will be still because it is molded .I hope this helps

Thanks
