Question

I have a LG CT810 phone that has stopped syncing with my computer that is running Windows Vista, although at one time it always synced. Very rarely it still does sync. When it doesn't, I don't get the Windows beep saying it is connected. The charging light does come on. I've tried deleting the partnership and reinstating it, re-downloading ActiveSync, re-installing ActiveSync from CD, using different USB ports, trying various combinations of open and closed programs (Outlook and ActiveSync), booting computer with and without phone attached and so forth. My husband suggested I try his LG CT810 and it works flawlessly with my computer every time. Could there be a software malfunction in my phone? Or something else I could try? Thanks

Info Request

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Just Answer.

First I need more information in order to better assist you.

When you tested your computer with the other phone, did you connect using the same cable?

Reply

Yes, I did. I used the same port and cable as I used with my own phone. Thanks for asking.

Answer

Ok then next open the phone and remove the battery for a couple minutes then place the battery back in and let it start up then try again to connect to your PC (this procedure should clear the active memory of any corrupt data that may be causing the issue).

I am going to accept your answer, but in case you get it again I thought you would want to know that simply removing the battery wasn't enough. However, you gave me the idea of also removing the SIM card. Voila!!!! I am connec ted. Thank you so much.

Accepted Answer

Excellent and thank you for the Accept :)

Also, just so you know, this issue and the solution are quite common with smart phones because they are basically small PCs. So occassionally they need a reboot or complete power down to clear memory in order to work properly.
