Answer

First thing you need to check is the large wire at the starter, it must have 12 volts, if it does you need to check the small wire at the starter while cranking, it should have 12 volts while cranking. Can you do this?

Answer

It could be a defective starter or a starter relay, or the ignition switch, we have to start at the starter. If it has power at both while cranking, then its a bad starter, if the small wire does not have voltage while cranking, then its going to be in the relay or switch.Tim

i think it was a loose relay. i opened up the fusse block under the hood and pulled the black fuse/relay.played around a bit with the wires and put it back in. started right away. started it about 20 times no problem.

Accepted Answer

Then it is most likely the relay or the terms where it seats are corroded, replace the relay and make sure the terms are not corroded.Tim
