Question

I just rebuilt an a604 from a 1992 Plymouth Voyager tramission and it's still having problems. When you first start it it will shift fine and really smooth, but sometimes it just sticks in second. When it sticks you can shut it off and sometimes it will start shifting again. Any ideas on what could be wrong.

hi, ok if the engine ligth is on that is an indication of sensors seen a problem inside the transmission or it can be the sensor , wires, or computer, have you scann the computer for codes? if not ,is the speedometer working?

sorry my mistake, when it limps into second can you reset by cycling the engine on and off?, and does it limp all the time or randomly,

Reply

when you shut the engine off and unhook power to the computer it will start back shifting correctly but then it will randomly just stop shifting and stick in second.

Info Request

can you try to see if it will reset by just turning the ignition key to of and then to on again?i just want to isolate possible transmission controller problems?

58 days and 13 hours ago.

Reply

That would be kind of hard to do since, I don't know when it will stop shifting to tell if it has reset or not.

Info Request

okif it happens randomly then the problem can only be a speed sensor , this transmission has 2 speed sensors the input speed sensor , and the output speed sensor, you are going to need to remove and replace both, due to syncronize to each other, will you like to see were they are located?
