Question
i am a young, middle age woman who loves travel along with safety and acceleration speed when called upon. i am currently driving a 2000 subaru forester and am thinking of purchasing a 2007 pacifica touring. it is loaded with 12k. 6 cyl, sportrain X XXXXX XXXXX, original tires for $14,000 from a private owner. Should i buy this or stick with my forester which has 97,000k? i value your input as this is a huge thing for me. thanks so much. this is a vehicle i would plan on keeping for years to come.

Answer
Hi! There
Subaru makes a great car. Chrysler makes a great car too, but I thank chrysler's quality has fallen. Trade-in value on the pacifica is about $11,000 and retail is about $15,000, So you would be paying top dollar for the pacifica. You SHOULD get 200,000 miles or more out of the subaru before any major repairs. This is based on the car being keep up with the maintenance. I am not going to tell you to buy or not to buy the pacifica, I am just going to give you my thoughts on the two car. I would pick the 97,000 mile subaru over the 12,000 mile chrysler. Unless I know the subaru was in bad shape. This is not to say I would not buy a chrysler, I just wouldn't at this time. I think the quality will pick back up on the chrysler line. and then I would consider getting a chrysler product.

o.k. i do LOVE my subaru so thanks. i just put in some additive into the cooling system because i was told it has a headgasket leak but the dealership told me that's like closing the barn after the horse got out and they want $2100 to fix. also the check enging light came on and they told me it would be $300 to change the sensor altho it hasn't come back on since (that was the same day they put the additive in) still keep it..what to do? Fix it? are the prices in line? confused...

That is a different story. If the subaru is in the shape you just said, Then it is time for another car. Trade it or sell it. The price to replace a head gasket is different depending on where you live and the labor rate. Where I live it cost around $1500.00 to replace the head gaskets.
