Question

My dog is throwing up clear mucus, maybe once or twice a day for the last four days. His appitite is normal, so is his water consumption. He is acting normal. Even he eats 10 minutes prior to throwing up, he never throws up is food. He is a ten year old Newfoundland, and besides the throwing up, is totally normal. Should I be alarmed?

Optional Information

Pet's Sex: Male
Pet's Age: 10

Already Tried:
I thought it might be the water, we have well water, I tried bottled gallon water. No luck. I was feeding a half cup of oat meal with his meals, stopped that, no luck. I have been feeding him baked chicken with his dry food, I've always done that. He makes this gaging sound, then he makes it again and throws up this thick clear mucus, and quite a bit of it, and then it's back to normal.

Accepted Answer

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that your Newfie is having this issue. While it is very good that he is still eating and drinking normally, it would be advisable to have him seen for this. Vomiting clear mucus can be an indicator of several things. These can include, allergies, the start of kennel cough, bacterial infections, sinus issue, reflux disorders and so on. The only way to pinpiont these is through a physical examination. Keep a close eye on bowel movements, urination and overall demeanor. I hope he's doing better soon.

Please click "ACCEPT" or if you need more information "REPLY"
